Flashback Friday Video: The 1990s!

The 1990s were probably the the last time the majority of people developed film. It’s also a time when many of you grew up so here is a 1990s flashback video for you to enjoy.

Flashback Friday Shirt of the Day: The Last Photo Hut!

In case you don’t have a world’s last photo hut near you here is some info on this scenic destination. Book a tour today!

The world’s last film hut is located in a scenic parking lot in Dublin California. Dublin used to be world renown for allowing lovely vistas of inflatable gorillas atop its many automobile dealerships but sadly now the balloons and most of the dealerships have vanished. (stupid economy!)

Some history of the film hut’s location.
Before it became a Big Lots, the anchor tenant was once known by the inflammatory anti Scottish American moniker of McFrugals. During America’s time of innocence and growing up (a.k.a the 1980s) This space was an unfinished furniture store called the Sawmill. The architecture of this store is what’s termed by most experts as “Early Safeway.” The adjacent Chinese Buffet and Dollar Tree are relatively new additions to the whole last film hut tourism experience.

Other notable places to visit while in Dublin include the empty shell of former Mervyn’s, and the Popeye’s Chicken that was briefly known as the only El Pollo Loco near me. Please enjoy your trip to Dublin, as it surely has the most to offer any tourist visiting the bay area. (Golden Gate-Golden Schmate!)

Develop a love for the world's last film hut. It's the last of it's type. forget the digital age it's time to get nostalgic with this retro vintage faded design processed just for you. Sorry product doesn't come with a sheet of negatives.

Today’s Link-iosity: Forgotten Trends

From time to time for a few short months years or even minutes our world seems to get a fever. For what you ask, Well there's Pac Man Fever, and Rubik's cube mania, and back in 1955 you couldn't get enough of the coonskin cap. You know all about those fads, so this lens isn't about any of those things, it's about those trends you probably forgot. So sit back, relax pop open a 7up Gold and enjoy The Museum of Forgotten Trends.

The Museum of Forgotten Trends!

Feeling Nostalgic for The T-shirt of the day!

Do you miss the days when exercise was easy? As in running thru the sprinklers, or doing a cannonball into the pool, or spending hours on the trampoline? Maybe you can get back into the groove by strapping on some old school roller skates or rolling down a hill at the local park, or by having a couch cushion fight with your bf, gf, or spouse. (You know you want to) If enough teens and so called adults start doing this maybe the world will become a healthier place (or not, cause ho hos are seriously hard to resist. Washed down with some kool aid and an otter pop yum!)

Anyway don’t you wish today’s tee was a reality?

I also wish they made adult size sit and spins. Maybe I will make that shirt next!

Happy Shakespeare Day!

Did you know that today is Shakespeare Day? Today is the day he died and also the day many celebrate as his birthday (Though wikipedia claims that can’t be verified, but hey it’s wikipedia, which itself often cannot be verified.) Why not celebrate Shakespeare day with a fun writer’s shirt and gift from The Writer’s Fort!
Like this one

Are you the type to fall asleep during the endless thous and thys of Shakespeare in the Park? No worries today has plenty of other people to celebrate too. It’s Shirley Temple’s birthday so why not make yourself a super sweet non alcoholic drink. Here’s a recipe:

Ingredients:
3 oz lemon-lime soda
3 oz ginger ale
1 dash grenadine
maraschino cherry for garnish

Preparation:
Pour the lemon-lime soda and ginger ale into a collins glass with ice cubes.
Add a dash of grenadine.
Stir.
Garnish with the cherry.

I have heard some people add a splash of Orange Juice so go ahead if you want.

It’s also Valerie Bertinelli’s birthday so eat something diet with your Shirley Temple.

On this day in 1936 another poet of sorts was born. Who else would dare to try to rhyme the word mercy with some sort of growl but the late great Roy Orbison? So in his honor you should wear your sunglasses all day long and get this shirt.

Peace out. Happy Shakespeare day y’all. Oh and if you are still celebrating Earth day be sure to pick up an environmentally friendly totebag at The T-shirt Fort! There are tons to choose from

Today’s firty tee is supercute and berry nice!

Ok so after posting that tribute to that um…sandwich?!? yesterday (not to mention my many bacon posts earlier this month) I really feel the need to repent and give everyone a nice healthy option. So here you go a cute and sassy strawberry design. Fresh and healthy too!

Monday, April 19, 2010

This Just In… A brand new bonus shirt of the day!

Look Ma No Buns! You heard about the “sandwich” now get a shirt all about the culinary experience that everyone is talking about but not too many people are daring to eat. Those giant steak eating contests are so out and bacon is totally 5 minutes ago now its all about the sandwich that uses fried chicken for a bun.
Double down and get this shirt and that crazy sandwich too!

These Shoes of the Day are a Salute to the Seventies!

Here is another blast from the past for your enjoyment! Wear these shoes to a beer bash by the moon tower, an Aerosmith concert, or when you are just hanging out at home listening to some 8 tracks!

Blast from the past. Hey 70’s kids See if you remember these ads!

Shirt of the Day 70’s child

If you grew up with a Harvest gold oven, a non matching avocado fridge, shag carpeting, a really loud vinyl kitchen floor, popcorn ceilings, a rust colored beanbag chair, and some beads in your doorway and you owned a portable 8-track player, some corduroy bell bottoms, a pair of toughskin jeans from sears, a concert shirt for that epic time you saw Foghat live you then you need this shirt. Wear it in your AMC Gremlin or Pacer with the denim seats.

Of course many of us who rocked the Harvest gold kitchens were not 70’s kids we were 80’s kids whose parents were slow to update. (Why yes that is fake wood paneling in the den why do you ask? I think it matches the complete wall of mirrors and the giant photographic mural on the other walls.)

Blast from the past. Hey 70’s kids See if you remember these ads!

You are so golden with the shirt of the day!

Hey prospector, it looks like you've hit pay dirt with this faded retro gold country design. This design looks great from Rough and Ready to Placerville or anywhere on the 49. Dig it!

Rough and Ready has got to be one of the coolest names for a town ever. It’s up there with such classics as Weed, California, Truth or Consequences New Mexico, Intercourse Virginia, Jupiter Florida, and Walla Walla Washington, 29 Palms California. Maybe if Placerville hadn’t changed it’s name from Hangtown it would give it a run for it’s money.

Did you know there is a town called Cool California? I didn’t either until I made a wrong turn and ended up on a road with that leads there. It’s in gold country as well.

It’s true I have seen it. I didn’t add any gum because I didn’t want to actually touch the wall of gum personally. This t-shirt celebrates one of the central coast's most offbeat and flavorful attractions. Gumball Alley: The wall full of gum in San Luis Obispo! It has a vintage faded tourist look and feel.

Here you go. A wall full of gum

Guess what there is one in Seattle too. It looks like this blog just got educational. You learn something new everyday. I might just have to make a sequel to this design.

I decided to spare you the video of some guy licking the San Luis Obispo wall. Don’t say I never do anything for you.

The Daily Tee Presents some shady Shoes of the Day!

Sorry but these shoes have nothing to do with Humboldt or travel or Slater (Or Wooderson), but they do have sunglasses all over them so they are perfect for a sunny spring day!

Today's Tee is Redwood Worthy!

There's no place like Humboldt. Home of giant redwoods, lots of fog, and an amazing pine scent. This retro tourist design has a cool faded look. You know you want one.
Oh and you over there. Quit snickering and making Hempboldt jokes. This is a family blog, and anyway hemp came in very handy when Colonial Americans needed to make rope. For more information about this amazing substance and our forefathers please watch the beer bash scene in Dazed and Confused and remember that Martha Washington was a hip hip hip lady.

The Bonanza Ranch and the end of western civilization as we know it.

So remember how I was talking about visiting the Bonanza ranch as a kid? Well according to this youtube video the attraction closed. :( Not that I was ever into westerns or anything but this backs up my theory that lately everything cool gets torn down to make room for yet another bed bath and beyond. Now I don’t have anything against towels but it seems like boring chain stores are taking over. The next time you are looking at relaxing sounds of the spa cds or bathroom towel warmers or something else you don’t need that badly stop for a moment and think of what once stood where you are. Maybe it was a racetrack where Seabiscuit ran (RIP Bay Meadows) or a really funky 1960s era bowling alley, or some concert venue where some early rock and roll innovator had their last show, or maybe a fun sort of tacky but full of childhood memories rest stop on the way to somewhere fun. (RIP Nut Tree in Vacaville your great beyond really is a Bed Bath and Beyond)

My whole point I guess is just for once don’t go to the Dennys or the Ihop try the weird local place on vacation, and if you see a large dinosaur by the side of the road stop and pose and take a photo because like his real counterparts he is fast on the way to becoming extinct.

I think I still have a cup souvenir from the Bonanza Ranch somewhere. Maybe it’s valuable now?

T-Shirt of the Day: Bodie is my favorite Haunt!

Bodie California. It's my favorite haunt. Great T-shirt with a cool western look, for Bodie, CA the authentic abandoned ghost town in the old west. Grab a sarsaparilla while you are there. UPDATE: I visited Bodie and you so cannot grab a sarsaparilla when you are there. It is however a really fascinating place where time is standing still and has great opportunities for taking photos. Wear layers it was freezing when I went last fall.

If you are seriously craving a sarsaparilla or maybe some root beer try Virginia City. Anyplace with a place called Bucket of Blood saloon can’t be all that authentic. Or you may want to check out the Calico ghost town but I’ve never been to that one so I can’t vouch for it’s authenticity and sarsaparilla availability. I did however visit the ranch where they filmed Bonanza when I was a kid. Though I have never actually seen an episode of Bonanza. I was too busy watching Highway to Heaven.

Bonus Bodie Video

Learn about Bodie here. Then go buy the shirt! Get the Bodie fever.

Bonus Bodie Video from a cat’s POV

I didn’t see this cat when I was there, but he was probably hiding somewhere warm.
